Social Media Agorythims And Lawyers, Is It A Poor Investment?

Hey guys, Brian Longley from on First Media. I wanted to cover an important topic today with regards to social media.  Some attorneys use social media sparingly because they do not understand its potential. However, many attorneys utilize the various platforms in ways to build brand awareness an increase positive exposure to their firm.  Serious drawbacks come to light when you’re putting all your efforts into social media platforms that can change their algorithms without notice. This process can leave many attorneys high and dry and very frustrated.

The Main Issue Is The Unpredictable Change

There is one main issue that stands out and we’ve heard from many attorneys regarding social media.   The problem is they’ve spent sometimes hours on a piece of content to publish only to find out the social media platform has changed their algorithm. This problem restricts your ability to reach the intended target audience you’re looking to capture. Sometimes this happens without notice. It is why you cannot rely on any social media platform where you do not own the asset.

The Main Issue Is The Unpredictable Change

Many cases it’s challenging enough to try and carve out even a few minutes to address a topic that could benefit some people experiencing a problem. Attorneys are taking time away from their family, working in incredibly stressful environments already and experience unimaginable pressures with deadlines. It only takes a few instances of having your hard efforts pulled out from underneath you to realize it may not be worth your time.

The solution is simple

There is a solution to this madness. If you continue to utilize popular social media Networks hoping to gain reach and awareness by publishing fantastic content, then you are at risk. There is another way, and that is to invest in assets that you own. You can publish content on web properties the only you control. You can also build an audience on a platform that you control. For example, you can publish content to a Blog website that you own. You can utilize a system to capture names and email addresses of your audience and still reach out to them every day. You can use Twitter LinkedIn and Facebook as a means of referring traffic to your system so that you’re not prone to all the changes.

Possibilities are endless when you set things up in a specific way and within your control. You are taking a considerable chance relying on a platform that somebody else controls especially if you’re trying to build an audience that is yours. That audience can disappear on these properties that you do not own overnight. It’s just not worth the risk.
